Monday Made It: Financial Peace and Binder Covers with a flash FREEBIE!

Welcome back for this week's Monday Made It!
Now that summer's in full swing for me, I was finally able to make home made its as well as a teaching made it this week.  First up are my home made its:

I took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace at my church a few months ago and it's really helped me get on track with my debt and spending.  I wanted to get my daughter on board with the principles of give, save, spend, so we made  Give, Save, Spend jars:

These are just containers from the Dollar Tree with some ribbon glued around it.  Very Dave Ramsey friendly!

The way she earns money is by doing her chores.  I made this chart to keep up with her chores for the week:

I'm going to laminate it and attach it to her closet door at her level.  We'll use a dry erase marker to put happy faces or color in the squares when she completes her chores.  We've talked about how some things are tasks that we all do to keep the house clean, so she knows picking up her toys is not something I'm going to pay her for!
At the end of the week we divide what she's earned into the 3 jars.  Right now we put 20% in give, 40% in save, and 40% in spend.  At the end of the month, we take her save jar to the bank and deposit it into her savings account.  She loves earning her money!

Next up is my teaching made it:

I jumped on the binder bandwagon!  Previously, I had all of my math resources in 3 large binders and my language arts, science, and social studies resources in file folders.  This system worked ok, but there were a few downfalls:
First, my math binders were too big to travel to and from school.  I would end up taking out the section I needed and keeping it in my teaching bag.
Second, file folder resources always seemed to be stuffed and hard to access.
With that in mind I knew binders were the way to go.  I was inspired by these posts from Amy at Math, Science, Social Studies...Oh My! (I'm sure you've seen this pic floating around on Pinterest):

I went through my resources and combined what I could based on our current state standards and common core.  Here's how they turned out:

For the math binders, I have a list of the standards for each topic:

For the language arts binders, I used the file folders I had as dividers.  I have the CA standard on there as well as the released test questions so I know how it's going to look on the CST (state test) in May.

I think they turned out great and I feel very prepared to start the year next year!
I made the binder covers editable and have decided to share it as a fan freebie on Facebook for today only!  Just like my Facebook page by clicking {HERE} and enjoy the freebie!

I blogged about my calendar {HERE}, but thought I'd share it again!

click here or the picture to pick it up from my TpT store
I'm loving the rainbow colors and how functional and cute it is.  I've printed the calendar and the notes pages, but am waiting to add my lesson plans to make my own plan book (I love the Erin Condren ones, but don't want to shell out the money so this is my attempt at making one!).

That's it for me this week.  Make sure you stop by and link up!  My list gets longer on Mondays but in a good way!

  2. You go girl with changing your family tree a la Dave Ramsey. We just reached total debt free status the week after school got out (finished off the house) and it is a great feeling.

  7. Great idea having the test examples on the divider. I have a binder with all of them, but it makes so much sense to have it broken it up. Thanks - I pinned it (twice)!

  10. Okay, your organization is making my head spin! Seriously. I don't even know where to start. What all do you keep in the binders? I'm kind of confused.
