What's Workin' Wednesday: Scoot!

I love how bloggers have regular posts/theme days.  So I'm going to try to do that by starting a "What's Workin' Wednesday" post.

I plan to share what's working in my classroom.  Everything from classroom management, routines/procedures, activities, lessons, just about anything that's working in my room!

So, what's working this week?  Yesterday my kids finished a unit on place value.  One of the things they loved doing was playing scoot!

I just found this game this summer thanks to the wonderful world of blogging!  I introduced it a while back when we were studying synonyms and antonyms.  It was a big hit!  So I made these scoot cards to go with our place value unit:

My kiddos loved using these to review basic place value concepts (standard form, expanded form, finding the value of a certain digit, and identifying specific digits in numbers).  Here's a sample of some of the cards:

What's even great, after we played scoot I left the recording sheet and the cards on the counter and the kids began to use them as a fast finisher activity at their desks!  Guess they really loved it too!

My goal is to make these for more of the topics we cover in second grade.  Such a great way to review and reinforce skills and concepts!
